Morning Bay
Morning Bay is a fabulous location as there are many bushwalking tracks leading straight into the Ku-ring-Gai national Park. And only half an hour cruise from Newport. A great place to stop for a swim on daysails, and also a very safe anchorage.
The Basin
The Basin is the most popular anchorage in Pittwater protected from all winds. It is located 1 hour from Newport and has great facilities for full day or single night: equipped with picnic area, BBQs, public toilets, bushwalking trails, and enclosed swimming area, see the goannas, kookaburras and wallabies. Fantastic swimming and camping. A great day out for all of the family.
Palm Beach
One of Sydney’s most famous beaches. Anchor at the foot of Barrenjoey lighthouse and enjoy the amazing view of West Head, Lion Island, The Basin and Mackerel & Currawong Beaches. Row ashore and just a short walk to one of Sydney’s most famous surf beaches. Walk up to Barrenjoey lighthouse and observe the view of Broken Bay and Pittwater. A great destination for a daysail.
Palm Beach is a great location, enjoy lunch at the trendy restaurants The Boathouse or Dunes Restaurant.
Broken Bay
Truly magical location. You will need at least a full day to scratch the surface of this amazing waterway. Located west of Palm Beach, the area extends from Lion Island to Cowan Smith Creek, incorporating Refuge Bay, America Bay, Hallets Beach, Yeomans Bay, Akuna Bay and Cottage Point.
The area is ideal for a long weekend or an extended stay. Very protected anchorages, waterfalls and secluded Beaches.
Refuge Bay
Refuge and America Bays are sheltered anchorages with plenty of public moorings for those who wish to explore this wild place. America Bay has its own walking trail and, after rain, a splendid waterfall. Refuge Bay offers quiet enjoyment of the surrounding bushland.
Jerusalem Bay
while exposed to the east, in any other weather Jerusalem Bay is a comfortable place to stop. You will be surrounded by lush bushland and there is easy access to the Great North Walk.
Yeomans Bay
As you head south towards Cottage Point after leaving the Hawkesbury River this delightful bay and its companion, Castle Bay, are on your port side and can be easily missed, so keep an eye out. Pull up a mooring here and enjoy a quiet lunch amid the enveloping bushland.
Smith Creek
For those who relish serene isolation continue past the western side of Cottage Point and explore Smith Creek. The last inlet, Illawong Bay, has but a few moorings where you can enjoy a relaxing lunch or overnight stay with nothing but the birds to interrupt your contemplation of nature.
